Choosing one of the Head and Neck regions provide an access to some of the cases I have dealt with in the past.

Cases are arranged according to traditional ENT regions.

Adenoid and Palatine tonsills diseases

Boy 12-y-o, no complains

Referred to the ENT surgeon by the paediatrician because of the palatine tonsills hypertrophy. X-ray of the nasopharynx - lateral projection.

Woman 39-y-o, sensations of pins and needles behind the nose.

Sensation of a secretion accumulated in the nasopharynx. No history of recurrent sinusitis or pharyngitis. Suspected remnants of the adenoid. Endoscopic examination.

Boy 13-y-o, history of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections

At the age of 5 - adenoidectomy. Endoscopy performed because of a suspicion of regrowth of the adenoid. Endoscopic examination.

 

Boy 7-y-o, history of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections

Moderate nasal blockage and frequent snoring but no apnoea. Suspicion of adenoid hypertrophy. X-ray of the nasopharynx - lateral projection.

Girl 5-y-o, history of severe snoring and apnoea

Mouth breathing during the day and at night. Severe nasal blockage with no recurrent sinus infections. Suspicion of massive adenoid hypertrophy. X-ray of the nasopharynx - lateral projection.

 

Boy 4-y-o, history of recurrent upper respiratory tract infections and permanent mouth breathing

Clinical diagnosis of adenoid hypertrophy. Endoscopic examination.
